The Enchanted Closet is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization. We rely on the generosity of individuals and companies to sponsor our programs. Below are some of the ways you can help:

Donate Your Time

Volunteer at the Enchanted Closet Prom Dress Giveaway where teenage girls “shop” for a dress and accessories! Available volunteer positions include:

  • Personal shoppers
  • Accessories coordinators
  • Registration & check-out coordinators
  • Make-up and beauty consultants

The 2010 Prom Dress Giveaway will be held on:

  • March 20th Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church in Decatur
  • March 27th at Virginia Gray Rec. Center in Riverdale
  • April 10th at Georgia State University's Rialto Center for the Arts in Atlanta

Volunteers MUST be 18 years old or older and MUST participate in our new e-orientation online. New volunteers must also particpate in an orientation conference call.

Enchanted Closet relies on volunteers to work at the Enchanted Closet boutiques where high school girls come to “shop” for a prom dress; to host dress drives at their offices, schools, churches and neighborhoods; and to help with other Enchanted Closet programs.

Donate Your Clothing

Enchanted Closet is currently accepting donations for the 2010 Prom season. During our annual dress drives, the Enchanted Closet accepts new or gently worn prom-appropriate formal dresses no more than five years old (dry-cleaned and on hangers), especially in sizes 16+. You can drop-off formal dresses, accessories, and cosmetics at the Sandy Springs Library branch at 395 Mt. Vernon Highway NE until March 13, 2010.

In addition to prom dresses, we also accept the following accessories: jewelry, handbags, hair clips, and wraps/shawls.

We DO NOT accept the following items:

  • Make-up
  • Shoes/Hosiery
  • Undergarments
  • Wedding dresses
  • Casual/Cocktail dresses
  • 2-piece suits
  • Casual/Athletic wear
  • Boys’/Men’s clothing

If you wish to donate these items, please call United Way’s resource call center by dialing 2-1-1 or 404-614-1048.

The Sandy Springs Library is located about 2 blocks east of Roswell Rd., about 3/4 mile north of I-285.

Hours:
Monday - Wednesday: 10 am - 8 pm
Thursday - Saturday: 10 am - 6 pm
Sunday: 2 pm - 6 pm
(Donations can only be dropped off during the library's normal operating hours.)

If you would like to be a dress drive hostess; collect dresses with your church, club, etc., please send an email to Tiki Foster at promdresses@enchantedcloset.org and a dress drive kit will be provided to you.

Donate Your Dollars

Financial contributions for Enchanted Closet project expenses are always accepted and greatly appreciated. We now accept online donations via GiveDirect™, a service provided by the Local Independent Charities of America. Making a donation through the GiveDirect secure server is fast and easy, and you will receive an acknowledgement of your gift for tax purposes.

IMPORTANT: Because we use a nonprofit service to process our credit card transactions, your credit card statement will show "LOC IND CH ORG" (not Enchanted Closet). This allows us to keep our administrative costs low, so that we can spend more time and money on our programs.
